An education from Achieve will allow your scholar to be educated and led by people who resemble them, sound like them and truly believe in the whole child.
Our innovative model couples a rigorous curriculum with a focus on Social Emotional Learning competencies to ensure we are supporting children beyond academics. Achieve believes in a holistic model where we provide not only rigorous instruction but also wrap-around services to include Family Support, Workforce Development, and Health & Housing. We believe a successful education begins with more than just the Achiever sitting in our seat.
BECOME AN ACHIEVER AT ACHIEVE
WHAT SETS ACHIEVE APART?
Diverse Staff.
We are committed to empowering a diverse team of staff members who reflect the backgrounds and identities of our scholars. In fact, 86% of our school staff currently identify as people of color, including our Principal, our Executive Director, and our Board Chair.
World Class Academics.
We provide a rigorous academic program that will ensure students learn the knowledge and skills they need for college and careers. In fact, our first new campus had the 2nd highest rate of mathematics growth in the entire state.
Ubuntu Cultural Program.
We know that strong relationships are the key to a strong school culture. As a result, we first prioritize supporting teachers to build strong relationships with their students. We then work to create a warm and welcoming school environment by supporting positive identity development, focusing on social-emotional learning, and providing additional mental health supports to ensure that every scholar has the support they need to thrive.
Culturally Responsive Instruction.
We know that students learn best when their teachers understand their culture and their unique strengths. As a result, we focus on tailoring our instruction to ensure that it celebrates the identities of our students, meets their unique developmental needs, and empowers them to become college ready.
Extended Day and Year.
We plan to offer an extended day (from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and an extended school year (191 days) to ensure students have the additional instructional time they need to become college ready.
Supporting the Entire Family.
We know that it is our responsibility to support both our scholars and their families. As a result, we have formed community partnerships that will enable us to provide our families with the unique support they need, including in the critical areas of health care, affordable housing, job training, and early childhood education.

completing your application
Completing an online application on www.NewarkCommonApp.org is the easiest way to apply to Achieve Community Charter.
Families new to Newark can visit www.NewarkCommonApp.org and create an account. Parents apply to all participating schools on one application, from their phone or desktop, ranking schools in order of preference.
Current Achieve families do not need to reapply or create a new application for the next school year. Returning families are only asked to submit proof of residency to secure their seat(s) for the next year. We will reach out to you to collect your residency documents in the spring.
Eligibility
Achieve Community Charter School is open to all Newark residents. We do accept applications for non-Newark residents, however, preference will be given to Newark residents in the lottery.
FAQs

Applicants who apply by the March 10th deadline will receive their match letters by mid-April. Families can begin registering at their new school immediately. Any applications submitted once the application reopens in April will be processed via waitlist pulls. All results will be accessible online in mid-April on your Newark Common App account. Initial matches and waitlist pull acceptances will be relayed to families by telephone and/or email from our Scholar Enrollment team. Once families accept their seat(s), our team will reach out to collect the required documentation to complete enrollment.
-
The only reason a Newark student would not get into his or her first choice would be if the school does not have enough seats for all applicants. When a student does not receive his or her first choice, the matching process will move down the student’s list of schools in order to place the student in his or her highest-ranked school with available seats.
-
No, students receive a single offer to the highest-ranked school on their list possible. If you do not receive a match, your scholar will be added to the waitlist for schools ranked on your application.
-
Applications for each scholar should be submitted. If one of the students is matched to a school of choice, his/her sibling(s) will be given a preference to be matched to the same school . The school will determine availability and connect with the family directly around sibling matches.
